We have received a new reading program called Achieve 3000! The students need to read two articles a week. One assigned by me and one of their choice. They need to stop whenever they see blue arrows in a circle and respond by writing a quick summary, answering a question, and writing a quick response. At this time, they do NOT complete the activity at home. They will do this in class. This is their weekly homework in reading. The link for the website is located on my website under links. They are also to complete xtramath.com at home.

Weekly Homework
Every week the students have a reading passage. We give the students the same reading passage all week long because studies have shown that reading the same passage repeatedly increases vocabulary and fluency. This also helps them practice their test taking strategies.
Reading Homework Directions
Monday - Make a prediction, then read the passage out loud.
Tuesday - Read the questions, then read the passage out loud.
Wednesday - Read the passage out loud and write the question type (using question type sheet)
Thursday - Answer your questions and prove your answer. Read the passage again.
*Make sure you are proving your answers by highlighting and writing the question's number in the text where you have found your answers in the passage and writing the paragraph number where you found your answer beside the question*
Friday - Turn in reading homework
Math homework will be assigned nightly.
